Freaky Deeky

November 18, 2006

Whoa, it’s late.

It came to my attention today that at least one person I know for real is reading this blog and has never made themselves known.

It makes me wonder – who else is lurking in these here waters?

I don’t have my full name attached to this blog, so there are very few ways someone could find this on purpose – either I (or one of my friends) told them about it, they figured it out by going through Stella’s blog (which they’d have to know her in order to do that), or they came across it and later realized, by picture or circumstance, that they knew the author.

I remember how weird it was when I realized that a blog I’d been faithfully reading belonged to someone that I’d sorta known years ago.

It’s all still strange, though. Obviously, I put it all out there on a public site…I don’t particularly care who sees it. That said, I don’t necessarily want this coming up in a Google search of my name, just because I treasure the relative anonymity. THAT said, I’ve met about 80% of the people I know who bother reading my drivel, and have emailed or IMed with half of the remaining 20%, so complete anonymity isn’t exactly the main concern here.

Shit. I don’t know what my point is. I guess that it’s weird and I don’t know what to think about it yet.

In other news, our Christmas tree is officially up and decorated. I have one more (maybe two) tree(s) to put up, and the house will be ready to roll for the holiday season. Our Thanksgiving pumpkins and Pilgrim Geese (don’t ask) are also out. We are an Equal Opportunity Holiday household…all holidays can be celebrated concurrently without penalty.

I ask you this – how can this tired, dehyrdrated body possibly be craving another cigarette out in the cold and just a dash more wine when it’s almost 3 in the morning and it knows damn well that it’s getting up in 6 hours?

Damn physical entities. Never can trust ‘em.

  1. There must have been something in the air last night – I was doing the same thing at midnight, waiting for Joe to get home from work… ended up polishing off the bottle before he got home.

My mother in law showed up on my site recently. It’s not like I’m anonymous or anything, but MY mom doesn’t know about my blog. Or if she does, she doesn’t go to it. I think there’s something about being hidded behind the computer keyboard that instills a false sense of security in us or something.

  2. I think the silent stalkers freak me out a bit, too. I have a counter and know I get about 90 hits a day, and most of them come straight there (vs referals). I never get more than 30 comments, so who are these people?? I think what weirds me out most is that they find something so interesting about me that they just keep coming back……

I’ve got to start putting my Christmas stuff up!!!

  3. Hi. Not to Freak you out, but I also read your blog regularly and since I don’t have a blog site, I guess that makes me a “silent stalker” Because of your blog, I realized East Nashville has a lot of good things offer. My favorite is Beyond the Edge Bar. Thanks!

    P.S. I found your blog via Rae’s blog. I’m a runner.
and I silent stalk her blog too! :)

  4. I’ve been taken aback a few times upon finding out who’s reading my blog; it IS weird. I’ve was shocked only once when a complete stranger approached me, and told me he recognized me from my blog and enjoyed the photography. I wasn’t on “my home turf,” but in the next town over for a class reunion. He was nice, but it did make me stop and think about how I put my photo on the blog, and blab merrily away about where I hang out: “hey! Any crazies, you’ll find me HERE to stalk/harass/chop me up.”

I’m a nonsmoker, but I can totally relate to that “dash more wine” craving. It’s why I keep a limited amount of alcohol in the house; there has to be limited dashes!
