Sometimes people want you defend a relationship you’re in and the only reason you can give is that you love the person in question. And sometimes that just has to be enough.

Sometimes the person to whom you’re defending this relationship has never been in the same situation, such as one where you are going to love the person in question no matter how bad they fuck up their life, and even though you know that they’re fucking up their life you can’t care anymore because your caring has gotten no one anywhere, so you just have to love them.

Sometimes it’s really hard to convince someone who has never had a relationship like that that, yeah, sometimes that’s just how it works.
