to a good home
October 1, 2007Apparently somebody spiked our coffee at Loveless yesterday morning, because after breakfast CB and I decided to replace everything in our kitchen and dining room. Granted, the appliances that came with the house when I bought it 4 years ago haven’t worked properly since the week after we moved in. I think the refrigerator is older than I am.
So the fridge is history – the store will haul it away for free when they deliver the new stuff. The rest of it, though, is still in good shape, and if any of you in bloggyland have a need for any of it, the asking price is somewhere between cheap as hell and free.
There’s this kitchen table:

I inherited it from my old boss. It’s sturdy, well built, and I just never got around to repainting the base. There’s nothing wrong with it, we just needed something with a leaf. This’d be perfect for a kid’s rec room, and is still in good enough shape to serve as a kitchen table. I’ve got the four chairs that came with it, and while they haven’t held up as well as the table, with some wood glue and new rods, they’d be fine. I mean, we still sit in them and they don’t collapse, so that’s something.
There’s also a stove and microwave. The stove is off-white with matching hood, electric, and also inherited. In a pinch, it’d do, if you need a stove, and it works fine, so I hate just throwing it away if anyone can use it.
I got the microwave for my dorm room back in the day when UT still let me take classes in Knoxville. No bells and whistles, but it works. Anybody got kids going to college next fall? Free nuker.
Our deliveries are coming tonight or tomorrow. The many of you that have been in our house know that we have less than zero storage space, but I’ll be happy to make arrangements if anybody can use these things. I’d hate to send this stuff off to appliance heaven if someone has need for them here. I’m beginning to sound like that organ donor bumper sticker. Nice.

Can I have dibs on the microwave for our hippie lawyers here at the office?
I think Twitter ate my Tweet… About how big is the table?
Absolutely.
I think it’s 42 inches – it seems pretty standard though. I’ll measure for sure tonight and email you. I put this on twitter also, but for all I know that one got eaten too.
Cool, thanks. I’m embarrassed to admit it, but we’ve been in our house for almost a year without getting around to acquiring a table.
We’ve been in ours for almost 4 years and just got curtains about 2 months ago. Don’t feel bad.
