I spent the weekend throwing another coat of paint on the trim in the master bedroom of our 100 year old house. The thought didn’t even occur to me to strip it first; just painting took 10-12 hours.

Yeah, I’m just about to add another layer to the many coats of paint here. I just don’t love it enough or hate myself enough to do any stripping.

My old house in Memphis was built in 1948. I discovered through some sleuthing that at one time, the trim and walls in most rooms were either turquoise or Pepto Bismol pink. Sometimes I look at the dull ivy green of my office and bedroom and wonder if people will get the same ill feelings from it that I do from that horrid pink. I think not. And the trim is off-white.

You are a true East Nashvillian. Four houses and 12 years into the neighborhood, I’m still not. Probably because I had a neighbor across the street from my first house who did exactly what you’re doing, and it scared the fool out of me.
